Stolen Camper
Posted By: Capt. Tim
Can you help us for $250 in cash? We are looking for our 26 foot Dutchman Colorado Camper(picture coming soon). The last time we saw it was in October of 2007. At that point we had decided to buy a home in Tennessee and sell our camper to a friendly couple we met in a Tennessee campground. We discussed the payment plan and wrote up an agreement with the friendly couple. The first couple of months went well and then the payments started to be a month or two late and now…………….they are gone with our camper and the unfortunate fact is that we still have to make the payments and we have no camper and no funds left to make the payments!!!! We have reason to believe that they may be in your area…if you can help we would appreciate it. The camper is registered in our name, in Wilson County, Tennessee and the tag # is 55038TE. We can be reached at 615-281-8358 or 615-330-2515 or 615-330-7110 or email vermont66@yahoo.com. All we need is an address or the name of the park or campground where the camper is and you get $250.  Please check out your campground and pass this on to another RV Park if you have a minute. Thank you for any assistance you can be.

WOW!   I had the chance to visit Colorado for the CCLOA (Colorado Campground and Lodging Owners Assoc) Last week and MAN I MISS THE WEST! What a beautiful area and you couldnt ask for a better class of people. We visited a few campgrounds in the Grand Junction area and would recommend any of them to all of you. The local food was fantastic the people in the shops were cordial and I bet that sleepy little town comes to life come Summer time. Anyway, any questions about the area on the Western Slope you can send me an email and ill put you in touch with some really cool people. It is truly Gods country.

See you in Perry!

How have you been doing with the winter blahs (especially those of you in the northern parts of the country)?  Did you dream of a white Christmas but have had enough of the white stuff?  Have you started thinking about getting the RV on the road?  Based on the number of  RVers that attended the Florida RV Supershow and Atlanta, GA RV Show in January, you are not alone.

RVcopilot.com Roaming Ambassadors and staff attended both shows and took the opportunity to interact with the other exhibitors and attendees.  We received a very favorable response from the exhibitors.  Many wanted more information and gave us some valuable input. Many of them have since listed with us.

It was interesting to watch the reaction of the attendees.  We approached everyone that walked by and handed them a card identifying the website.  Many could not believe that it was a free service.  They were sure they had to purchase software or join a club to use the information.  A few would not even talk to us because they just knew there had to be a catch.  The majority of the folks, however, were very enthusiastic about the idea of having one place to search for the businesses they needed and could hardly wait to get back to their computers to try it out.  We even added listings for attendees who had their own businesses related to RVing and did not want to be left out.

We took the feedback we got from the shows and have further enhanced the site.  We have added still more categories, such as, mail forwarding services, education and training, and patio accessories.  We have also re-arranged the home page to make it more user friendly.  We continue to add new businesses on a daily basis.

RVcopilot.com is still growing and getting better.  One unexpected event we discovered was that when someone does a Google search for a business, sometimes our listing comes up above their own website. Now that is search engine optimization.

Remember Behind every Good RVer is a Great Copilot.

Help find missing FMCA member couple

FMCA is enlisting members’ assistance in locating an FMCA member couple: Jim and Gail Ellis of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Jim and Gail are full-timing in a 1987 40-foot Newell diesel pusher and are towing a 2007 black Chevrolet HHR. The Alberta license number of the Ellis’ coach is NEWELL 1. Their FMCA member plate number is 380188.

According to the Ellis’ friend and fellow FMCA member Kim Corrigall, Jim and Gail Ellis have not been heard from since Feb. 2.

“While that might not seem overly drastic, they are not the types not to have contacted at least one of us within their large support group,” Mrs. Corrigall said. “In addition, one of their phones has been cut off and the other is simply not responding.”

Jim and Gail left South Padre Island on the Jan. 24 after spending a month at Isla Blanca Park, Mrs. Corrigall said. The couple headed northwest, staying at Lost Maple State Natural Area (west and north of San Antonio, Texas) for about six days until Feb. 2.

“Our close group up here in Canada has covered all the bases we can think of in terms of inquiring with police and camping locations we know they attended,” Mrs. Corrigall said. “We are hoping that, with FMCA’s network of motorhoming families, someone will come across our missing friends.”

If you have any information as to the whereabouts of Jim and Gail Ellis, please contact FMCA immediately, at (800) 543-3622. We appreciate your assistance.

Thank you for your help

I had To Pass This On

bless children

This is one of the kindest things I've ever experienced. I have no way to know who sent it, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the US Postal Service. Our 14 year old dog, Abbey died last month.
The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying that when Abbey got to heaven, God wouldn't recognize her, and could we send him a letter? I told her that I thought we could, so she dictated these words:
Dear God:
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick. I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her. You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her. Love, Meredith
We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven...
Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps on the front of the envelope to get the letter all the way to Heaven. That afternoon, I drove Meredith to the Post office and watched her drop it in a letter box.. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet.
I told her that I was certain He had. Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith, ' in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it.
Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies.' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:
Dear Meredith:
Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away... Abbey isn't sick anymore.. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by. Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I'm easy to find. I am wherever there is love. Love, God
It's nice to know that there are still a few nice people in this crazy world we live in.

God Bless Kids

Turkey Time
Posted By: Meredith

The turkeys breezed into the Florida campground the day before Thanksgiving.  One camper thought there were enough there to feed the whole campground.  Why were they there?  Hadn't they checked the calendar? Hadn't they got the memo about the dangers of being out near Thanksgiving?  Did they think they were covered by the President's pardon? Or, were they typical teenagers who were seeing how far they could fly in the face of danger? But, all is well.  They lived to brag about it to their buddies. Now, next year...

'Til we meet again

Happy Thanks giving To All

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey be plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!
Have a Blessed Day

My Disney Audition
Posted By: cyclingron

Disney World was holding open call auditions for 10 vocalists for their Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue and Beauty and the Beast. I wanted to be there. They told me auditions started at noon and to arrive earlier.  I got there at 11:15 and was given number 237 and more were coming in. The huge room was filled with very talented kids, most younger than my own children. I was finally called at 4:15.  I put my heart and soul into the 16 musical bars I was allowed to sing.  I didn't get the coveted yellow piece of paper advising me to come back again.  What I did get was a free pen, great advice on how to go about it when I try again, the joy of interacting with a great group of kids and priceless memories.  More info at www.disneyauditions.com.

Pigs in the City
Posted By: Meredith
Lexington, NC, bills itself as the BBQ capital of the world.  As part of their festivities, local artists painted fiberglass pigs for an outdoor art exhibit.  The pigs are placed at various businesses around town and can be located with the use of a Hoofin' map.  I couldn't stifle a laugh as I checked out each pig in this whimsical display and the creativity of the artists. Some of my favorite pigs are Pigahontas, Digger the Caterpiggar, Ham Snead, Girl Snout and Rockin' Harley Hawg. While in Lexington we of course feasted on some great BBQ.  It's the first time I tasted cole slaw made with BBQ sauce; apparently an NC tradition. Brought Back Some Memories

Welcome to The Cup Half Full Cafe'
Posted By: Captain Tim Cook
RV Blog

As the President of our company I thought it fitting that I should be the one to make the first entry into our blog. The Cup Half Full Cafe' is a place for our employees to share their RVing experiences with you, our website users. You will find useful tips and fun places to visit in your travels. Our Roaming Ambassadors will share their stories of life as a full timer. There will be funny and sad stories, but all will be portrayed in a positive manner. Our cups are indeed always Half Full. If you go through life half empty then maybe the tales of our travels will help to lift your spirits and give you hope that things always have a way of working themselves out in the end.

I should start by telling you all how I got involved in such a big project. I was working as a yacht captain and when I got engaged to my beautiful wife Emily, we wanted to be shore-based. I got together with a friend of mine and we started a website called The Captains Mate. It is the same business model as RVCopilot only for the yachting community. Once that was up and running we were doing some RVing with some friends and one night sitting around the rig started talking about how the RV industry needed a similar website where RVers could go to one site and get all of the info about businesses in a specific area and also to find interesting and fun things to do in an area they had not been to before or had an interest in going to. We started doing our due diligence and found that indeed the industry had been begging for such a product for quite some time. After almost 2 years of R&D and a whole lot of work we were able to launch RVCopilot in April of 2008. When we launched we had almost 40,000 listings on the site and today are well over 120,000. We have added categories that you the RVers that use the site have asked us to and will continue to add more as the requests come in.

We created this RV Directory (or Search Engine as we call it) for you the RVer. Please keep us bookmarked on your computer and watch us as we grow. If you have ideas of things or categories to add please feel free to contact us at any time to let us know your thoughts.

We will be adding several items in the near future such as a huge RV Classifieds area, a Google map integration, and an RV Forum where you can upload your thoughts and share your experiences from the road and even a spot for technical stuff.

Thanks for visiting The Cup Half Full Cafe' and we look forward to serving you a heaping helping of the best RV website available on either side of the Mississippi!

Regards and Safe Travels
